When we planned our Kilimanjaro trip, a friend recommended Diamond Glacier Adventures. So we contacted Demi and Koni. We had a lot of Whatsapp exchange when organizing the trip. Everything... read more worked really well with very short response-times to our questions - so we felt well prepared.
The trip itself was also well organized. We all made it to the top and had a great time with a lot of fun. Demi and Koni have a lot of experience (e.g. they proposed to start the summit day later than other groups to avoid strong winds and climbing all through the night - this worked perfectly for us). The food prepared by Nicolas („Stomach engineer“) was really good and provided the energy we needed. I had a bit of a cough when arriving in Tanzania and everyone cared and the team prepared some local ‚medicine‘, which made me feel better. So great time for us with a successful summit day - thanks a lot to the whole DGA team for making this happen.
As we finished a day earlier Koni proposed to show us some local spots in his hometown Arusha (such as his favourite local fish restaurant or the local market). We also really enjoyed this additional tour, before heading to Zanzibar to rebalance.
So, overall 100% recommendation for DGA. We will stay in touch and maybe next time do a Safari with DGA. Thanks again to the whole team!

Demi and Cony are strongly recommended by friend of mine. Without DGA could our journey never be so fascinating and successful.
We begann our journey with climbing Kilimanjaro. Both... read more of them are very experienced and have wide knowledge of the nature. We have chosen 7 days lemoshu route after consulting Demi. These 7 days in Kilimanjaro are the most unforgettable time in our life even it was hard for all of us, not only physically but also mentally! Demi and Cony encouraged us all the time and always being helpful during the whole journey. I must mention the whole clew here since they are true Kili-fighters! Without their help, we could never make it to the top! Of course, it was a hard job for the clew but they showed us their good vibes.
Cony checked our gears very carefully the night before the climbing to ensure that we are fully prepared. During the time in Kilimanjaro, we are treated so well and always had very tasty food.
Demi and Cony arranged our first time vacation in Tanzania (also first time in Africa) so good and very thoughtful. Before we started our mountain tour, we also got time to visit the local coffee plant farm to learn more about the culture. Cony took us to a local restaurant to taste very fresh and delicious fish from Victoria lake.
After climbing the Kilimanjaro, Demi arranged our 5 days safari in Ngorongoro Cater and Serengeti. We had great time and enjoyed every moments in the national parks.
Demi also arranged our visit in Zanzibar with a local driver who took good care of us. He showed us the local community spicy farm and learned a lot about very individual spicy plant.
We cannot finish our great adventure in Tanzania in such short sentences. Because of Demi and Cony (DGA), our journey in Tansania is now being so unforgettable and heartwarming.

Kilimanjaro Trip of a Life Time! - This truly was an incredible pilgrimage of a Life time! It would not be possible to reach the peak of the African continent without an expert highly trained lead... read more Demi and his assistant Cony, and the whole 19 people crew of porters, people that carried everything on themselves 25kg each. The cook, Nicholas worked so hard to make amazing traditional meals from fresh healthy products. I can't believe they carried all that! 3 hot meals a day, soups, potatoes, pasta, deserts. Just unbelievable! Server Dismas, was ready with a bucket of hot water, soap and towel as soon as we returned from our long and hard hike. Nobody mentions that hikes are not easy, they are hard! Hours of hike on challenging uphill and downhills. And in addition, if you are not tolerating elevation well, you have a headache and feel nauseous. I run marathons and thought it would be easy, but it was not! So be ready! Nevertheless, Demi's guidance was great! On the last day, on the night of summit, I was sick from elevation. Headache and constant vomiting. Not all felt like that, just lucky me. So you maybe just fine. But Demi was so strong in supporting and keeping me go. We just kept moving up and up. Everybody else was very supportive too. The whole team was wonderful, fun and caring. You are in great hands with Demi and his team. We got so lucky to have a wonderful couple from Germany who did a proposal on top of the mount Kilimanjaro! The lady asked a guy "are you sure? because we all severely oxygen deprived here" LOL! It was incredible! Be ready to tough it out! Go and have an unforgettable experience!

Perfect experience with Demi and all the team - We had the chance to have Demi organizing our 5 days Safari (Taranguire, Ngorongoro, Serengeti + Masai village visit with bike tour and bush lunch). We connected to him through... read more friends who did the Kili with him, and were very statisfied.
Our Safari was perfectly organized (from the transfers to bookings Safari camps and lunches in the middle of the parcs) fitting our requests, and even more (kudos to the chief who mastered the unexpected BBQ the last night:-)
Demi is very flexible, looking to make your wish and dreams come true.
Thanks Demi and all the team, our family will never forget those experiences.

Absolutely fantastic and unforgettable Tanzanian experience! - I cannot say enough good things about Demi and his Diamond Glacier Team. While we were hiking (7 day Lemosho route) Demetrius taught us about the local tribes and traditions, the plants and animals of the area, some history of Tanzania and of Mt Kilimanjaro. We would absolutely hike with Demetrius again and would recommend him to anyone looking to climb Kilimanjaro.

We chose DG for our climb of Kilimanjaro (6 day Lemosho route) and Meru (3 days).
We climbed both mountains successfully in July 2022 and returned home with fantastic memories... read more and fondness of the teams that supported us in reaching the summit of both mountains.
On the Kili climb, we had two very good guides: Connie and Michael; who enabled us to make the most of our days on the mountain by including additional trips when we had surplus energy.
For example, we managed to take on Shira Peak and Cathedral Point within the 6 day Lemosho climb and had several acclimatisation hikes once we set camp.
The equipment was in excellent condition with a large tent with mattresses and the team set up the night camp very efficiently every evening.
Food was good with three hot meals every day.
A special note for our stomach engineer, Ponzi, who kept us well fed with interesting dishes, plenty of food always, and loads of fruit and veg.
Connie and Michael were knowledgeable, flexible and always looking out for best options for us.

The team at Diamond Glacier Adventures couldn't have been any better. After a very poorly managed tour company messed up our Kilimanjaro climb Cony and Achii with their crew... read more took us up the tough Western Breach route in 5 days with everyone summiting. We couldn't have asked for any better people to spend our time up the mountain as they were all so helpful and nice!
My overall recommendation would be definitely use these guys for your activities in Tanzania. They are the best!!

Incredible experience visiting Tanzania, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and going on a safari thanks to Diamond Glacier Adventures. Demi and team took care of us from the moment we landed in... read more Tanzania to the moment we left.
Planning the trip was extremely straightforward and easy, as Demi makes himself available to communicate over whatsapp to answer any and all questions about the trip. Demi provided many suggestions on timing, order or activities, etc. We really trusted his expertise - and he IS an expert!
We hiked Mt Kilimanjaro for 6 days and went on safaris for 4 days. in between the legs of our trip we stayed at the Crest Safari Lodge. Steve and team at the lodge were wonderful to us. And there was delicious food at the hotel!
For Mt Kilimanjaro, Demi and Diamond Glacier Adventures paired us with 2 guides, Johnson and John, 1 cook, Paulo, and 12 porters (I can't list all of their names here but they were all so kind and helpful). The climb was challenging but DGA, Johnson and John helped to make it such a wonderful experience. John and Johnson were incredible, keeping our spirits high, teaching us about the mountain, and having fun with us. We were so lucky to have such wonderful guides who helped us reach the top of Kili! If you have interest in climbing Mt Kilimanjaro I would 100000% recommend Johnson, John and Diamond Glacier Adventures for your trip.
We paired our climb with a few days of safari to end the trip. Per Demi and Diamond Glacier Adventures' expertise, we went to Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, and WOW were we amazed. We have never seen so many remarkable animals all in the same place. An incredible experiences. Comfort was our safari guide. He was great to lead us through these safaris and was extremely knowledgeable.
Overall, this was the experience of a lifetime! If you are considering a trip like this, just Mt Kilimanjaro or just safaris, consider Diamond Glacier Adventures. I would highly, highly recommend them.

We decided to climb Kilimanjaro on December 2020. Some friends of us who recently made that trip too, advised us to go with DGA as they did. Definitely the best... read more decision we took in the preparation of our trip!
First contact on WhatsApp was super easy and friendly. Demi answered a couple hours after we sent our first message with a very clear and precise offer, detailing all options available (different routes and length). We were amazed by how easy it was to communicate with him.
Due to covid-19 pandemic, our trip initially planned for February 2021 had to be postponed six month later, Demi was super professional and flexible and made no case of it.
At our arrival in Kilimanjaro, Demi was outside the airport waiting for us and arranged everything from the very beginning until the last day. Since then, The only thing we had to care about was reaching the summit.
We spent the first night at Pepe hotel (a small and cool B&B in Arusha). Demi checked all our equipments at our arrival in order to be sure everything was appropriate and nothing missing which was very reassuring for us.
We took the machame route with the objective to complete the climb in 7 days. Our team counted 1 guide (Demi), one assistant Guide (Koni), one Cook, one waiter and 8 porters. All of them were super friendly, positive and encouraging. A special 5* for the cook who prepared delicious dishes everyday for both lunch and diner. The great thing was that we had 3 hot meals everyday whereas other groups had cold pack lunch.
About our Guides (Demi ans Koni), they are incredibly entertaining with a great sense of humour. We even climb with some music on some parts of the trek !!
Furthermore, they were always watching over us making sure we were in the best conditions to make it I til the summit.
We finally made it to the summit in 6 days (instead of 7) without any trouble and Demi arranged an extra night in Arusha in order for us to visit the city and share a super great last lunch together at his own restaurant.
As a conclusion, DGA really went above and beyond our expectations !! It has been a lifetime experience and we highly recommend them without any doubt.

Did a one day trek to the Mandara hut on Mt Kilimanjaro with Diamond Glacier Adventures. Demi was my guide for the day. I had such a great time.... read more Demi is a great motivator to get you up the hardest parts. No rush and the scenery is spectacular. Lots of opportunity to stop and take pictures. Lunch was very good, You stop about half way up in a picnic area. Also we stopped on the side of the road on the way home so I could get some great shots of Kilimanjaro once the cloud lifted off the mountain. I would highly recommend going with DGA if you are interested in any sort of trek long or short. They are excellent to deal with.

Shorter review: AMAZING ONE-IN-A-LIFETIME EXPERIENCE, HIGHLY RECOMMEND, Demi and his Diamond Glacier Adventures are professionals, great guides and made us feel very welcome! Longer review: Based on my colleague's recommendation we booked (a group of 4, two couples from Germany/Russia/Poland) a 7 day Machame trip with Demi and his team in July 2019. The price was very reasonable, the communication was great and there were no issues with transferring the money via a bank transfer which was a strongly preferable option for us.
We arrived at Kilimanjaro airport and were transferred to Pepe Hotel the same night without any delays. Pepe Hotel is a basic but very nice hotel with all the necessary amenities. Demi had a brief debriefing with us which made us feel in good hands; overall very professional and we were very pleased with the trip planning. We went through our equipment and apparel and Demi provided us with warmer apparel if necessary.
The service of Demi and his team on the mountain was top-notch; we felt very welcome, the food was great and the climbing pacing was tailored to us. Demi recommended that we shorten our 7 days trip to 6 days one because of our good shape, which we did and did not regret afterwards; however, this was a risky move on our part because it implies quicker ascend and a higher risk of altitude sickness.
We made it to the summit on the fifth day - even though it was physically straining, we didn't have any health issues and were super happy to make in such a (relatively) short time. Nature is something out of this world, the views are breathtaking, the whole experience is something we will not ever forget in our lifetime! It is totally worth the price and the long flight and the strenuous ascend!
As a little after-Kilimanjaro present Demi and his brother Connie invited us for a great barbecue in Arusha which was definitely a nice touch.
Overall I was an amazing experience and we would definitely recommend Demi and his team as your guides and helpers! Many thanks for making it happen, guys!
P.S. The Demi's team consisted of 19 people in total. I would highly recommend asking beforehand how large the group would be because it is crucial for tips at the end of the trip. Overall please refer to the tip calculation scheme at Demi's website beforehand; we referred to different resources which state 200-250 dollars per person, the actual amount is around 400+ per person for a group of four which is something you should definitely consider when comparing the prices.
P.P.S. If you have any questions about our experience, feel free to contact me directly through TripAdvisor.

I researched many well known companies to hike Kilimanjaro, I did not feel a connection them until I made contact with Demi. I was seeking a true local authentic experience,... read more Demi natural and genuine. It was very important to me to book with a local Tanzanian company, the money goes directly to the guides and the local people.
I was very taken in that Demi worked his way up from a porter, Chef and ultimately to the very best guide in Tanzania. He never asks any of him team to do anything that he has not done himself.
When I was sick, Demi was there to rub my back, his encouragement, positive words, his superior mental strength, he made me believe that I could do it.
I thought some days would never end but a very wise man, Demi pointed out that everything has an end, I witnessed the most spectacular sunset, had it not been for Demi who never ever let me quit, I would not have seen this.
The food prepared by Nikolau was exceptionally fresh, tasty and excellent. The service provided by the porters was superior. Always the most amazing encouraging smiles on their faces. My admiration is endless, it was a pleasure to be in their company.
On the way back, I noticed Demi looking at his team at, with a warm smile on in face, he stated 'it makes me happy to see them happy' and this sums up the man that he is, kind, thoughtful and a genuine care for the well being his people.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was the best adventure of my life made safe by Diamond Glacier Adventures.
My friend with whom I endeavoured this beautiful but challenging trek, found... read more DGA few years ago. So after a vast research we decided this was a good choice. And we were so right!
DGA was founded by Demetrius, a man born in the Kilimanjaro region. He is from Chagga tribe . He knows this mountain by heart and could probably trek it blind folded 🙂
He and his brother Cony knew other mountain guides and porters, always had time to chat to them. I could tell they were very respected in touring guide community.
I wont describe our trek in detail as it’s such a unique experience, but below are some hard facts:
- our camp always had the best view
- our food was delicious, full of fresh fruits and veggies
- we felt safe & secure everyday
- Demi took care of our medication based on our wellbeing and symptoms
- Demi made sure we had correct equipment and clothing before we started our trek
- Demi would check us everyday to see if we have any symptoms of mountain sickness
Summit night wasn’t easy on me, especially last few hours. As I sat on the rock, few hundred meters from Stella Point - I gave up. I had some back pain ( not related to altitude sickness), which made it difficult to walk and breath. Despite this decision Demi gave me a minute to think about it and to rest. He stayed with me and mentally prepped me to give it a go, to try. So I tried and made it to the Uhuru Peak where my friend was waiting for me. I will always say that: I made it with my own legs but it was Demi’s willpower, patience, his belief in me that got me there.
It took Cony’s bubbly personality, his sense of humour and upbeat music he played for us. He was our DJ 🙂
It took enormous physical strength of 10 porters:
Edward, Rashid, Athuman, Godlizer, Ezekiel, Onesmo, Hangwa, Jonhson, Nicolaus, Boas - men that made it possible for us to have fresh drinking water, roof above our heads and friendly atmosphere in our camp.
I am forever grateful to every member of the DGA team.
Asante Sana

Diamond Glacier Adventures were recommended
to us from friends back home, who climbed the mountain with Demi, and we wrote them asking for details, and Demi always replies right away. He is very organized with information and puts a great effort in transparency regarding payment and tips to his employees.
We were picked up from the airport and driven to a hotel upon arrival, and Demi did a briefing with us at the hotel and checked our equipment and made sure we brought what we needed.
Next day we were picked up in a bus and driven to the mountain with the whole crew. The mood was high and everyone was so nice.
Demi, his brother and the rest of the team made our climb fun and unforgettable! The most important thing is that Demi knows what he is doing in terms of mountain climbing and acclimatization, he is good to his employees, treats everyone with respect and makes sure everyone gets payed. On top of that, Demi and his brother Cony are such nice people. They know so much about the nature, culture and history, and were ready to tell us all about plants, animals, tribes of Kilimanjaro and more. They tought us a little Swahili, and they were a pleasure to be around for 6 days straight.
They have my deepest respect and my strongest recommendations any day - we are already planning Safari with them, because we were so pleased with them.

There was time for learning so much about the Nature, culture and language as long as you were curious.
The Price was very fair and the tipping was done in a visible and honest way, handed from us directly to the crew. In that Way We could be sure they would receive it, and the Crew could be sure it came from us directly without any ‘middle-man’.
All in all We had an unforgettable experience and We are already planning to go on Safari with Demi and Cony.
I give Them my deepest recommendation.

Highly recommend Demetrius and his crew for any length climb up Kili. Ours was a 6-day via Lemosho route and I can confidently state that Demetrius is an top-notch guide... read more who has speaks excellent English and has extensively trained with REI guides who have made 700+ climbs. Separately he has the versatility to ascend at much faster rates of speed when desired by more athletic clients. He is always upbeat and keeps the spirits of people around him positive and joyful while maintaining a safe climb.
Demetrius is more than a guide -- he is a humanitarian who cares for all the people on the mountain, leaving the mountain better than on his arrival. This was perhaps most significantly apparent in our journey as he agreed to assist (at the risk of physical harm) taking a porter from a different crew, who was left on the mountain unconscious, down from summit camp to a waiting truck to the hospital. Not only did he assist -- he took a leadership position -- treating the sick man like he was as important as one of his own crew, arguing for support from other crews and park staff alongside Peter Mato in an all out effort to secure proper medical care for the unknown porter.
We found out later that the porter recovered as we were out on safari and are very grateful for the rich adventure that involved much more than conquering a physical mountain.
If you want a guide you can trust with your life, that will have your wellbeing in mind, and will stand up and do what is right in the worst of circumstances -- that guide on Kili is Demetrius and his co-guide Peter Mato. Diamond Glacier Adventures is a cool name too!

Diamond Glacier Adventures organized my Kilimanjaro climb! One day before my climb their guide (Cony) came to see me at hotel and took a look over my equipment and made... read more some suggestions (replacing my sleeping bag with warmer one, getting another water bottle, new headlamp since mine was broken etc.). They delivered everything what i needed and while climbing all this extra stuff came handy and i would have probably frozen to death with my own sleeping bag 🙂 Next day they came to pick me up in hotel and introduced with their team and my co-climbers. At the Kilimanjaro gate we had excellent lunch cooked by their excellent chef. All the way to the top and back down we were taken care very well and all our problems got solved immedialt. All the porters were really helpful, our tents, food and everything else was waiting for us on camp sites before we reached there. The guides were top level and also very talkactive, introduced local life and customs also helped us to learn a bit of swahili. On last climb to top when we got in bit of difficulties they helped a lot and took care that every single one of us would make it to top of the mountain.
I can honestly say that i didnt hope for such a warm welcome. I was well fed and well taken care of.
After Kilimanjaro climb they helped me to visit some local tours aswell like lake duluti canoeing (if you are into birdwatching i would definately recommend it), Duluti Green foundation coffee farm visit (if you love coffee then it is the place to visit - you can make your own coffee from beans - cleaning, grinding, roasting etc. ).
I can surely reccomend them for any travel who wants to climb kilimanjaro with experianced crew.

My friend and I from the United States booked a 7 day Kilimanjaro climb (Lemosho route) plus a 4 day safari through Diamond Glacier Adventures. What a fantastic experience and... read more a lifetime of memories! Demi, the owner, is trustworthy and will take great care of you. He goes well beyond expectations throughout the hike – his caring nature and expertise regarding Kilimanjaro truly shines when you are on the mountain.
I had never climbed a mountain before. And it turns out I am a bit scared of heights when there are no railings. Yes, I am physically fit (long distance running, biking), but I had no chance of making it up Kilimanjaro without this company and its owner, Demi, who pays unusually close attention to how you are doing throughout the climb. I was touched by the caring nature of his entire staff while on the mountain. Demi treats the porters well and they seem to enjoy working for him – in fact, Demi himself had his start as a porter many years ago.
I trusted my life with Demi, and also his brother, Coney, and listened to them every step of the way. There were moments that I did not think I could go any further and with their encouragement, I propelled further. When I had to go really, really slow due to feeling mild altitude sickness, Demi stayed with me, encouraging me and asking me how I was doing. Sure, I could have turned back at any point, but I felt well enough to continue. He had me follow in his footsteps while holding on to his backpack straps when I felt tired and provided me with water at the right timepoints – when you are exhausted, you forget to stay hydrated. I made it to Stella’s point. I still cannot believe that I did it. For the route down, due to the snow/ice, crampons were needed for a couple hundred feet (microspikes easier to put on your hiking shoe, are preferred, and are cheaper; I had the traditional crampons as I didn’t know which to purchase). Demi, one porter who accompanied us, and I made it down the mountain back to base camp arm in arm – I might have taken twice as much time to come down without their help. After some rest, our entire group hiked down to high camp. The next day was all downhill – I had terribly painful toes, with two blue toenails. I could hike, but it was painful. About 20 minutes into the hike down, Demi stopped us and inspected my foot. He took his shoes off and exchanged mine with his. And guess what, my toe pain was so much better! Ask yourself, who would do something like this? Demi takes complete responsibility for your safety and well-being during the hike and considers that to be his duty. He helped me get down the slippery parts of the rain forest and we made it safely down the mountain. We ended up finishing 1 day earlier than expected.
The safari was very well-planned by Demi. Our driver was experienced, young, and energetic who drove a Toyota Landcruiser with a pop-out canopy, the most common safari vehicle. We covered the Serengeti (2 nights at the Thorn Tree Camp), Ngorongoro Crater (followed by 1 night at Eileen’s Lodge), and Tarangire (back to Arusha after that). We saw elephants, lions, gazelles, zebras, wildebeest, and others. We felt a 3-4 day safari is the perfect duration – being relatively active people, riding in a vehicle on the rocky dirt roads is tolerable for this long as you seen so many cool animals in their natural habitats. Both Thorn Tree Camp (in middle of Serengeti with your own private tent with running hot water and toilet – hard to describe, but it’s like an entire hotel room that your own large, compartmentalized tent, with full service, delicious dining – the chef catered to our needs as we were vegetarian, asking us what kind of food we wanted; an experience that you will likely never have again) and Eileen’s Lodge (a permanent, beautiful lodge in a garden setting with all the luxuries of a hotel room and terrific buffet style food) were excellent places to stay. The only thing we would change is that we may consider skipping the Maasai village visit as it was not a good value ($25 per person) for the amount of education you got out of it (at least you can consider it a donation).
All in all, your actual trip experience with Diamond Glacier Adventures will leave you with a lifetime of memories – the Kilimanjaro experience while on the mountain is one of a kind with Demi’s company and probably hard to replicate with other, similarly high-rated companies. No review star rating can capture the personal connection I felt while on the mountain
